“A Peace of our Time”, a 60 foot long composition that tells the story of immigrants who have come to this country to build a better life, who through hard work and with the support of their community are able to over come obstacles and achieve their dreams. Its a story about love and interdependence, about paying homage to our pasts and celebrating our roots, about working together to build something beautiful. It’s a message of hope, of acceptance, determination and resilience.
This mural was designed and painted in collaboration with 19 youth apprentices and my wonderful teaching artist assistant @lovenotesnyc for @creativeartworks.nyc summer mural program on the Jacob Schiff educational compound. It was an honor to work with this group of compassionate, thoughtful, and talented young people who every day inspired me, challenged me, made me laugh and warmed my heart with the love they showed each other.
